BREAKING: Ryan Hopkins Transfers to Mater Dei

Coach Raul Lara and the Mater Dei Monarchs have found their new quarterback. JSerra’s Ryan Hopkins confirmed to OC Register’s Dan Albano on Friday night that he will be transferring to Mater Dei.

We last covered Hopkins in Week 0 when he led JSerra to a stunning 35-7 upset over Sierra Canyon, with our photographer, Richard Do, capturing the action on-site. Hopkins went on to finish the season with 1,111 passing yards, 13 passing touchdowns, 483 rushing yards, and 8 rushing touchdowns, earning All-League honors in the highly competitive Trinity League.

Hopkins steps into the role vacated by senior Dash Beierly, who led the Monarchs to a perfect 13-0 season and a state championship victory over De La Salle.
