CORONA, CA – Under the bright lights at Husky Stadium, the JPWest Media Game of the Week delivered one of the biggest shockwaves of the 2025 high school football season. The Corona Centennial Huskies defended their home turf and handed national powerhouse Mater Dei a stunning 43–36 defeat in front of a packed crowd.

Centennial came out swinging, overwhelming the Monarchs with speed and physicality. By the end of the first quarter, the Huskies had exploded to a 28–0 lead, forcing turnovers and silencing Mater Dei’s usually explosive offense. The advantage grew to 33–7 by halftime, as Centennial’s defense swarmed and the offense capitalized.

The Monarchs, however, showed why they’ve been the nation’s No. 1 team. In a furious third-quarter rally, Mater Dei rattled off 29 unanswered points to take a 36–33 lead heading into the fourth. The momentum completely flipped, and suddenly Centennial found itself on the ropes.

Just when it seemed Mater Dei might escape, the Huskies rose again. Kicker Jaden Walk-Green tied the game with a clutch field goal. Then, on a pivotal 4th-and-10, quarterback Dominick Catalano hit Keawe Browne to keep the drive alive, setting up Malaki Davis’s go-ahead touchdown with just over two minutes left.

The defense then sealed the deal. Walk-Green, already with a pick-six and field goals on his stat sheet, delivered the dagger with a game-sealing interception, ripping away Mater Dei’s hopes and sending Husky Stadium into a frenzy.
