GAME RECAP: #1 UCLA Blasts Five Home Runs, Powers Past #12 USC 10-4 to Complete Battle of LA Sweep, Extends Win Streak to 23

LOS ANGELES, CA – The top-ranked UCLA Bruins turned Jackie Robinson Stadium into a launching pad Sunday afternoon, smashing five home runs and rolling to a 10-4 victory over No. 12 USC to complete the Battle of LA series sweep.

Mulivai Levu led the charge with a pair of long balls, while Dean West, Roch Cholowsky and Will Gasparino each went deep as the Bruins (29-2, 15-0 Big Ten) pounded out 15 hits in a decisive Game 3 triumph. The win pushes UCLA’s current win streak to a staggering 23 games and sends a clear message to the rest of the college baseball world: the Bruins are locked in and rolling.

It didn’t take long for the fireworks to start. Dean West got the party going in the bottom of the first with a solo shot to right field, giving UCLA a quick 1-0 lead. USC answered with a solo homer from Augie Lopez in the second, but that was as close as the Trojans would get.

The Bruins’ bats truly exploded in the fifth. Levu launched a solo homer to right, and Gasparino followed with a two-run blast to left, staking UCLA to a 5-3 advantage. Levu wasn’t done. In the sixth, the powerful first baseman crushed a two-run homer to center, pushing the lead to 7-4 and putting the game firmly in UCLA’s hands.

Cholowsky put the finishing touches on the offensive onslaught in the eighth, blasting a three-run homer to center that capped the scoring at 10-4. The junior shortstop finished 3-for-5 with three runs scored and three RBI, while Levu went 3-for-5 with two homers and three RBI. Payton Brennan added three hits and West and Cholowsky each scored twice as the Bruins’ top of the order feasted on USC pitching.

On the mound, starter Landon Stump worked four innings, allowing four hits and three runs (two earned). The bullpen then took over and slammed the door. Chris Grothues earned the victory with scoreless relief work, and Zach Strickland nailed down the save with two strong innings of one-hit ball and three strikeouts.

USC starter Andrew Johnson took the loss after surrendering seven runs on 10 hits in six innings. The Trojans managed just six hits total and never mounted a serious threat after the sixth inning.

With the sweep secured, the Bruins have now taken all three games from their crosstown rivals this weekend — following a 12-4 blowout on Friday and a thrilling 9-8 comeback win on Saturday. The 23-game win streak is the longest active streak in the nation and continues what has been a storybook start to the 2026 season for the No. 1 Bruins.
