ATLANTA, Ga. — The No. 2 Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets refused to let an early deficit derail them Tuesday night, exploding for 13 runs in a back-and-forth offensive battle to defeat Georgia Southern 13-9 and close out their homestand with a hard-fought victory at Mac Nease Baseball Park at Russ Chandler Stadium.

The Eagles jumped out to a quick 4-0 lead against Georgia Tech starter Cooper Underwood, capitalizing on extra-base hits and a solo home run from Jack Myers in the first inning. But the Yellow Jackets’ potent lineup — one of the nation’s best in 2026 — answered immediately and never looked back in a game that featured plenty of fireworks from both sides.

Ryan Zuckerman was the star of the night, going 5-for-5 with a pair of home runs and four RBI to power the Tech offense. His timely hitting, including a massive two-run single in the first and a solo shot later, kept the momentum squarely with the Jackets. Caleb Daniel added a home run of his own, while Jarren Advincula and Alex Hernandez contributed back-to-back solo blasts in the fourth that flipped the lead for good at 6-5. Drew Burress, Vahn Lackey, Carson Kerce, Will Baker, and Drew Rogers also chipped in with key hits and RBI throughout the high-octane affair.

Georgia Tech’s bullpen stepped up in a big way after Underwood’s early exit. Carson Ballard earned the win in relief, navigating traffic and limiting damage while the offense continued to pile on runs. The Jackets’ bats stayed hot through the middle innings, building a cushion that proved just enough when Georgia Southern mounted a late rally.

The Eagles (12-23) showed plenty of fight, getting contributions from James McCoy, Bryson Trammell, Nico Senese, and others at the plate. But they couldn’t keep pace with Tech’s firepower in what turned into a true midweek slugfest.

With the win, Georgia Tech improves to 31-5 overall and extends its win streak to 13 games. Head Coach James Ramsey’s squad continues to live up to its No. 2 national ranking with a balanced attack that mixes power, timely hitting, and timely relief pitching.

The Yellow Jackets now turn their attention to ACC play as they look to keep rolling in conference action this weekend vs the North Carolina Tar Heels. For Georgia Southern, it’s back on the road to face Old Dominion this weekend in a 3 game series.
