GAME RECAP AND TOP PHOTOS: Saddleback Dominates over Mt. SAC to advance to SCFA Final Game vs the Rustlers

Saddleback Mt. Sac SCFA Semi Finals

The Bobcats and the Mounties met today at Saddleback College for the SCFA Semi Finals. Saddleback comes into the match up 9-1 after taking the National Southern League Title over El Camino a few weeks back, while Mt. Sac is 10-1 after defeating that same El Camino team 42-40 last week.

Mt. Sac starts off with the ball, but are unable to score and punt the ball back to the Bobcats, but lose 10 yards as it’s blocked by Jacob Sekiyoba, where the Cats take the ball over at the Mount. Sac 9 yard line. Shortly after, Darrien Campbell rushes for a 9 yard touchdown for Saddleback. Bobcats 7, Mounties 0.

Back with the ball, Daunte Bell completes the pass to  Damari Wiggins for 12 yards to the 50 and takes the first down on the following drive bringing Mt. Sac to the 32 yard line. Aiden Ramos rushes 10 yards to take the ball to the 1 yard line for a 1st down and a 1st and goal for the Mounties, who score with Ramos on the next play for a 1 yard touchdown, the score is tied.

With the ball, Saddleback brings the ball inside the 5 after Kavaughn Clark runs it in before being pushed out of bounds, but scores on the following play on 2nd and goal. Bobcats 14, Mounties 7.

Mt. Sac is unable to score on the next drive and punts it inside the 15 to the Cats. With the first drive, Darrien Campbell is wrestled down inside right outside the 50 yard line. Campbell takes it back to the 41 yard line before the end of the quarter. Saddleback 14, Mt. Sac 7.

To open up the second quarter, Dudden’s pass is incomplete to Martinez, and reverts back to the rush game with Campbell on the carry for the next play, just a yard shy at the 39. Jaylen Beverly-Rushing rushes soon after for 8 yards to the Mt. Sac 16. With 2nd down & 8, Darrien Campbell breaks through a couple tackle attempts for a 14 yard touchdown. Saddleback 21, Mt. Sac, 7.

Mounties with the ball, Daunte Bell sacked for a loss of 7 yards by Roman Hardin. On the following play, Jacob Sekiyoba picks the ball, but with a holding call on the Bobcat defense, the Mounties keep the ball. Bell’s pass intended for Elijah Crook is incomplete, but still has the Mounties at 2nd & goal. 3rd & goal from the 15, Sherard Willis is in for the Mounty touchdown. Mt. Sac 14, Saddleback, 21. 

With 11 seconds to go in the 2nd quarter. Mt. Sac punts to the Bobcat, Nick Gentilella with the 40 yard pass from Tyler Dudden is good going into the half. Saddleback 28, Mt. Sac, 14. 

Opening up the 3rd quarter, Dudden’s pass is complete to Joseph Walter, bringing the Bobcats to 2nd down & 2. Dudden keeps it on the next play and with a gain of 9, brings it inside the 10. At 2nd & goal, Clark runs it in for a 8 yard touchdown. Saddleback 35, Mt. Sac, 14.

Manuel Maganda kickoff 56 yards to the Mt. Sac. Jordyn Harris returns for 16 yards, but the fumble forced by Justin Zeppa, is recovered by Tmario Walter at Mt. Sac 35. A few plays later, Campbell with the 10 yard rush to the endzone to bring the score to 42-14, Bobcats.

Mt. Sac takes over at their own 25, when Bell is taken down behind the line of scrimmage by Jack Matranga. Dudden with the run taken down by Michael Young inside the 40. A few plays later, Clark’s 19 yard run to the endzone brings the score to 49-14, Bobcats.

Bell’s pass is picked off by Orlando Gonzalez, getting the balls back to the Cats late in the 3rd quarter. With the ball, Dudden’s pass to Martinez is complete and takes the Cats to the 21. 

With the 4th quarter underway, Dudden’s pass is complete to Martinez, marketing him just short of the goal line. The next play, Leonidas Bell’s 1 yard rush to the endzone is good for a Bobcats touchdown. Saddleback 55, Mt. Sac 16. Early on in the 4th, Jordyn Harris putting up some points on the board for Mt. Sac, bringing the score to Saddleback 55, Mt. Sac 22.

Mt. Sac gets on the board late in the 4th to finish the game but it’s not enough to come back from Saddleback’s dominant 58-28 win. The Bobcats will take on Golden West for the SCFA title game next weekend.
