FORT WORTH, Texas — Trailing 6-5 after three innings, the TCU Horned Frogs refused to fold. They staged a furious comeback and exploded offensively for 16 runs across seven innings of action Tuesday afternoon at Lupton Stadium, routing New Mexico State 16-6 in dominant fashion.

New Mexico State seized an early advantage, plating five runs in the second inning. Easton Rulli delivered a solo homer before Steve Solorzano crushed a grand slam to put the Aggies up 5-1. TCU answered immediately in the bottom half. Cole Cramer ripped a two-RBI triple and Sawyer Strosnider added an RBI single to cut the deficit to 5-4.

The Aggies pushed their lead to 6-5 in the third on Rulli’s second solo homer of the day. But the Horned Frogs clawed right back, tying the game with an RBI walk from Jack Bell. Then came the surge.

TCU took control for good in the fourth with three runs. Colton Griffin delivered an RBI single and Lucas Franco added a two-run single, helped along by a pair of New Mexico State errors. Strosnider broke it open in the fifth, launching a two-run homer to make it 10-6.

The sixth inning turned into a full-scale explosion. The Horned Frogs sent 10 batters to the plate and scored six times. Walks loaded the bases, Cramer knocked in another run with a single, and Strosnider delivered the knockout blow — a majestic grand slam that cleared the bases and capped the outburst at 16-6. The game ended after six complete innings with TCU firmly in command.

Strosnider was unstoppable at the plate, finishing 4-for-5 with two home runs (including the grand slam), a double, a single, two runs scored and a game-high eight RBI. Cramer was nearly as productive, going 3-for-4 with a triple, three RBI and four runs scored. The Horned Frogs piled up their 16 runs on just 10 hits but drew an astounding 12 walks and capitalized on four New Mexico State errors while committing none themselves.

On the mound, Uli Fernsler absorbed the early damage, but the bullpen took over. Zack James (3-0) earned the win with two scoreless innings of relief, and Cade Nelson closed it out with two more shutout frames.

This offensive explosion — a true comeback followed by a relentless scoring barrage — showcased the depth and firepower in TCU’s lineup. The Horned Frogs improve to 12-8 while New Mexico State falls to 9-11.
