PLAYOFF PREVIEW: Saddleback, Fullerton heads to the Valley as LA Valley hosts Super Regional

ORANGE COUNTY, CA- The Super Regionals kick off today in Valley Glen, CA, marking the second round of the 3C2A Playoffs. Two formidable Orange Empire teams hit the road to begin the series at 12pm, with Saddleback hosting the Fullerton Hornets in Game 1.

In their previous matchup during the week of March 18th, Saddleback clashed with Fullerton in an Orange Empire Conference showdown. The Bobcats claimed victories in Game 2 and Game 3, while the Hornets secured a win in Game 1, marking their first victory against the Bobcats since March 9th, 2019, in a notable 1-0 shutout. Saddleback maintains a commanding lead in the head-to-head series, standing at 94-44.

Reflecting on past encounters, Saddleback’s matchups against LA Valley in the 2022 3C2A Playoffs resulted in convincing victories, with the Bobcats triumphing in Game 1 (9-1) and Game 2 (16-0). Their dominance is evident, leading the series 12-3.

Fullerton’s history with LA Valley includes three clashes in the Super Regionals last season, culminating in a 2-1 series win and advancement to the Regional Finals.

In the preceding week, Saddleback secured a thrilling series victory over Orange Coast, clinching the win with a walk-off RBI single from Junior Barajas.

Both LA Valley and Fullerton enter this round with confidence, having swept their round 1 opponents—LA Valley swept Cypress, and Fullerton swept Pasadena City. The stage is set for an intense battle as these teams vie for a coveted spot in the Regional Finals.
