The SCFA postseason opens under the lights in Walnut as Mt. San Antonio welcomes El Camino in a highly anticipated SCFA Quarterfinal matchup — a clash between a Mounties team rolling with confidence and a Warriors squad eager to prove they belong in the final four.

These two teams are no strangers this season. They last met back on September 13, where Mt. SAC earned a 37–27 win, a game that showcased both teams’ explosiveness and set the tone for how closely matched they can be when both offenses are locked in.

Mt. SAC enters at 9–1 after surviving one of the wildest games of the season, a 55–54 win over Ventura that showcased both their offensive firepower and their resilience when it mattered most. Sophomore quarterback Hunter Herrera delivered another strong performance, throwing for 316 yards and 3 touchdowns while completing 20 of 29 passes. Sophomore Daunte Bell added a touchdown of his own in limited work, giving the Mounties a steady second option behind center.

The ground game remains central to Mt. SAC’s identity, and it was on full display last week. Aiden Ramos powered through with 98 yards and 3 touchdowns on 22 carries, while Devyn Turner added 79 yards on 15 attempts. With two physical runners capable of controlling tempo, the Mounties can dictate how this game is played.

Out wide, Mt. SAC spreads the field as well as anyone. Devon Anderson (74 yards, TD), Bronseman Davis (74 yards), and Elijah Crook (47 yards) headline a deep receiving corps that forces defenses into mismatches, especially on early downs. Defensively, the Mounties swarm to the football with volume tackling led by Teyondre Coleman, Dakota Mendoza, and Jayden Murrietta.

El Camino arrives at 8–2 after a bye week that allowed the Warriors to regroup following a tough loss at Saddleback. The Warriors showed flashes offensively in that game — combining for more than 200 passing yards between Andrew Maushardt, Evan Tomich, and Lorenzo Mauceri. Receivers Nazarus Williams (65 yards) and Brandon Jones (59 yards) continue to give El Camino steady production on the perimeter.

Running back Jaden Moore leads the ground attack and enters after an 82-yard, 1-touchdown outing. Defensively, El Camino’s strength lies in its balance — a unit anchored by Dakari Harris, Tyler Black, Dayton Norris, and Isaac Sandy, all of whom will need one of their sharpest games of the season to slow Mt. SAC’s layered offense.

For El Camino to pull the upset, controlling possession and forcing long third downs is critical. Mt. SAC wants to play fast and lean on its depth — disrupting that rhythm is the Warriors’ clearest path into the second half.

But the Mounties enter this one locked in, physical, and loaded with playmakers across the board.
