GAME RECAP: Brady Edmunds and Dylin Bruce Lead Huntington Beach Past Millikan

LONG BEACH, CA – Huntington Beach opened the 2026 season with a convincing road win Thursday night, defeating Millikan 42-14 behind standout performances from Brady Edmunds and Dylin Bruce.

Ohio State commit Edmunds completed 25 of 32 passes for 446 yards and six touchdowns. Arizona State commit Bruce hauled in 10 receptions for 226 yards and three scores while also recording an interception on defense.

The first quarter ended scoreless. Both teams struggled to find rhythm, with Huntington Beach limited by early penalties and Millikan unable to sustain drives.

The Oilers broke through midway through the second quarter. Edmunds found Bruce on an 82-yard touchdown pass at the 6:36 mark to open the scoring. With just six seconds remaining in the half, the duo connected again on a 29-yard strike, sending Huntington Beach into the locker room with a 14-0 lead.

Millikan responded early in the third when Aaden Muasau punched in a 1-yard touchdown run to make it 14-7. Huntington Beach answered quickly. Edmunds hit Kye Crump for a 5-yard score, then found Bruce again for a 37-yard touchdown that extended the lead to 28-7.

Ryan Carter capped a Millikan drive with a 3-yard touchdown run late in the third, cutting the deficit to 28-14. The Oilers pulled away in the fourth. Edmunds threw a 25-yard touchdown pass to Skylar Robinson, then sealed the victory with a 17-yard strike to Nicolas Navarrete.

Huntington Beach finished with 515 total yards and 23 first downs. Bruce led all receivers, while Robinson added seven catches for 118 yards and a score. Carter paced Millikan with 99 rushing yards and a touchdown.

Huntington Beach (1-0) returns home next Thursday against Los Alamitos. Millikan (0-1) travels to Loyola on Friday.
