GAME RECAP: Sea Kings big 2nd half Helps Put Them Back in the Quarterfinals

NEWPORT BEACH, CA- In an electrifying night of high school football, the CIF Southern Section playoffs officially kicked off at Davidson Field, where the Corona Del Mar Sea Kings hosted the Paraclete Spirits in the Division 4 Playoffs.

The Sea Kings wasted no time making their mark, as Kaleb Annett launched a deep pass to Dorsett Stecker, culminating in a touchdown connection to Tight End Brock Clemmer, giving them an early 7-0 lead.

The Spirits, however, were not to be outdone, fighting their way down the field and scoring a passing touchdown to even the score at 7 by the end of the 1st quarter.

Corona Del Mar responded with another passing touchdown, this time from Kaleb Annett to Russell Weir, adding 6 points before halftime to lead 13-7.

As the Sea Kings took possession to start the 2nd half, they executed a methodical drive, ultimately resulting in a fantastic 13-yard passing touchdown to Wyatt Lucas, extending their lead to 20-7.

The Sea Kings maintained their momentum into the 3rd quarter, with Annett orchestrating a successful quarterback keeper, pushing their advantage to 26-7.

Heading into the 4th quarter, Corona Del Mar continued to dominate, with Kaleb Annett connecting for another touchdown, bringing the score to 33-7.

The Paraclete Spirits began mounting a comeback in the 4th quarter, but it proved too little too late. The Sea Kings sealed the victory as Owen Sanders capped off the night with a 25-yard rushing touchdown, securing their place in the Quarterfinals. Next week, they’ll hit the road to face either St. Paul or Santa Barbara.
