PREVIEW: The CIF Southern Section playoffs have officially begun, and all six Sunset League teams have made it to the postseason. Kicking off Round 1 on the first night is Corona Del Mar. In the previous season, the Sea Kings reached the Semifinals in Division 3, but this year, they find themselves competing in Division 4 as they host a playoff game with the goal of returning to the Semifinals and, hopefully, surpassing their performance from the previous season.

Last week, the Sea Kings wrapped up the regular season with an impressive victory over the Huntington Beach Oilers, securing a 42-28 win by scoring 28 points in the first half. Sea Kings’ Quarterback, Kaleb Annett, had a remarkable performance, completing 16 passes for 233 yards and four touchdowns. Russell Weir stood out as the Sea Kings’ leading receiver, with 95 receiving yards and two touchdowns.

On the other side of the matchup are the Paraclete Spirits from Lancaster, CA, who finished the season with a 7-3 record. This marks their first appearance in the playoffs since 2021, when they were eliminated in the first round against Buena High School. The Spirits are led by Quarterback Tyler Soles, who had an outstanding performance last week, throwing for 275 passing yards and four touchdowns in a 42-0 victory against Crespi.

PREVIEW: CIFSS Football Round 1 action continues on day 2, with the Huntington Beach Oilers hosting their first playoff game since 2013 when they won it all a decade ago. The Oilers entered the game as the 8th seed in the Division 6 CIFSS Playoffs, seeking a better outcome than last year’s Division 6 round 1 game against Orange, which resulted in an overtime loss. This season, the Oilers are led by Freshman quarterback Brady Edmunds, who threw for 180 passing yards and 2 touchdowns in the last game.

On the other side, the Glendora Tartans came into the game as the 9th seed in Division 6, hoping to improve upon their first-round playoff exit last year against the Mayfair Monsoons, where they lost 35-28 in overtime. The Tartans are led by Senior quarterback Eric Najarro, who completed 12 passes for 186 passing yards and 2 touchdowns.

PREDICTION: Huntington Beach gets their first playoff win in 10 years and advances to the Quarterfinals 28-14

PREVIEW: Week 9 of the 3C2A Football Season is here, and we got what could be a good one at Saddleback, as the Saddleback Bobcats host the Fullerton Hornets. The Bobcats are coming into this one after getting shut out at Riverside 38-0 and are hoping for a much better game this week and get back in the win column against a tough Hornets team

The Fullerton Hornets are coming into this one on an 8 game win streak and are hoping to continue that with another win. Last week the Hornets got another bye week as the Grossmont Griffins forfeited. 2 weeks ago, the Hornets beat Palomar 48-19 and the Hornets Quarterback, Brandon Nunez threw for 341 yards on 21 completions for 3 touchdowns
