Tournament Recap and Photos: All 3 Sunset League teams impress at the Battle at the Beach

HUNTINGTON BEACH, CA

Lots of top teams in the state were on display today at the Battle at the Beach hosted by the Edison Chargers, including 3 Sunset League programs. Edison, Los Al, and Corona Del Mar

Edison was off to a quick start winning their first 2 games against Cathedral Catholic and Chaparral headed into their bye. Would then go on to fall in game 3 to J Serra but would quickly respond and win against Santa Margarita to advance to the Gold Bracket against Mater Dei. 

Los Alamitos was without Makai Lemon and fell in game 1 to St. John Bosco but showed lots of promise for the future. They would then respond the next 3 including winning a close one to Serra 24-15 in game 2 and beating Capo Valley and Warren to advance to the Gold Bracket against Mission Viejo.

Corona Del Mar would also be impressive almost beating the number 1 team in the country forcing Overtime against Mater Dei but would fall 27-21, would then go on to win their next 3 against North Kitsap, Bishop Amat, and Norco to advance to the Gold Bracket against J Serra.

GOLD BRACKET RECAP:

Edison played really well against the number 1 team in the nation, Mater Dei starting off down 13-0 would try to come back but would fall 21-12. 

Los Al just couldn’t get it going against Mission Viejo as they would fall 28-13. Mission Viejo would then go on to beat Mater Dei and Bosco and win the tournament.

Corona Del Mar would fall as well to J Serra in round 1.
