GAME RECAP: Stallions put 32 up in 1st Half to Remain Unbeaten Over El Modena

ORANGE, CA- In a thrilling matchup at Fred Kelly Stadium on El Modena High School’s campus in Orange, CA, San Juan Hills clashed with the El Modena Vanguards.

San Juan Hills wasted no time, as Sullivan Land’s impressive 20-yard run set the tone, culminating in a 2-yard rushing touchdown by Land himself.

The Stallions dominated the first quarter, with Colton Chase’s electrifying punt return putting them on the 26-yard line. Quarterback Timmy Herr, a junior transfer from Mater Dei, shone brightly, connecting with Jason Robinson Jr. for a touchdown, giving San Juan Hills a 14-0 lead.

Sullivan Land then unleashed a 64-yard rushing touchdown, followed by a successful 2-point conversion, ending the first quarter with San Juan Hills ahead 22-0.

The Stallions kept up their momentum, adding 10 more points in the second quarter, heading into halftime with a commanding 32-0 lead.

El Modena finally found their rhythm in the second half, with a significant pass from Quarterback Xzavior Guess to Christian Tafua. Guess later used his agility to put the Vanguards on the scoreboard, securing the 2-point conversion.

The Vanguards intercepted the ball from the Stallions and turned that possession into 3 points.

However, San Juan Hills wasn’t done yet. Timmy Herr added another touchdown with a rushing play of his own, sealing the victory at 39-18.

San Juan Hills maintained their undefeated streak, boasting a 6-0 record for the first time since 2015. They will return home next week to face Tesoro in a highly anticipated rivalry game for the coveted Bell.
