GAME RECAP: Annett, Sea Kings sneak past the Mustangs

MISSION VIEJO, CA- In a thrilling game at Trabuco Hills High School last night, the Corona Del Mar Sea Kings emerged victorious over the Trabuco Hills Mustangs. The stage was set for an exciting matchup between the 2-2 Sea Kings and the 3-1 Mustangs.

Corona Del Mar made their mark early in the game when Kaleb Annett connected with Russell Weir for an 8-yard touchdown pass. However, Trabuco Hills responded swiftly, scoring a touchdown of their own and converting a two-point conversion to take an 8-7 lead in the 1st quarter.

The score remained tight through most of the 3rd quarter, with Colin Pene’s 27-yard field goal putting the Sea Kings ahead 10-8. The real turning point came in the 4th quarter when Wyatt Lucas broke free for a long run, setting up Kaleb Annett for another touchdown pass to Russell Weir, extending the Sea Kings’ lead to 17-8.

But the Mustangs weren’t ready to concede defeat just yet. They fought back and managed to score a rushing touchdown, bringing the game within two points at 17-15.

In the end, Corona Del Mar’s defense held firm, securing their 3rd win of the season in a closely contested battle. The Sea Kings now look ahead to their upcoming league game next week at Cap Sheue Field in Huntington Beach, CA, where they will face off against Edison at 7 pm. It was an exciting night of high school football with Corona Del Mar coming out on top.
