PREVIEW: A week ago, Edison commenced their Sunset League campaign with a significant victory at Cap Sheue Field against the Corona Del Mar Sea Kings, securing a 21-7 win. Savelio Niumata threw for 106 yards on 8 completions, while their running game proved more effective, with Julius Gillick shouldering the bulk of the carries, amassing 131 yards on 29 attempts. On the defensive front, Hoi Hansen spearheaded the Edison defense, registering 13 tackles and 1 sack.

As for the Huntington Beach Oilers, last week’s outing was far from their best performance this season. They yielded 59 points to the Newport Harbor Sailors while managing to score only 21 themselves. Tyler Young led the Oilers with a total of 155 yards, including 101 receiving yards. It’s worth noting that the Oilers were without the assistance of Senior Offensive Lineman Sean Marella for the game and Senior Linebacker Brandon Soleau for the last three quarters. However, both are expected to be fully prepared for Friday night’s game.

Both of these teams enter Friday’s game with identical 3-3 records. The Oilers are seeking redemption and their first victory over the Chargers since the 2013 CIFSS Semifinals, as well as their first Sunset League win of the 2023 season, while the Chargers aim to maintain their impressive 10-game winning streak against the Oilers.
