GAME RECAP: Sea Kings able to sneak away from Ayala to advance to the Quarterfinals

NEWPORT BEACH, CA- The CIFSS Playoffs got underway tonight as the Corona Del Mar Sea Kings hosted the Ayala Bulldogs in Division 3 CIFSS Round 1 Matchup. 

1st Quarter: Ayala got things off quickly in the 1st quarter scoring on their first drive from Junior Quarterback Bryan Wilson extra point was no good and would go up 6-0.

2nd Quarter: Sea Kings started off rough but finally got things together as David Rasor completed a nice 11 yard pass to Russell Weir to tie the game up at 6. On the next drive for Corona Del Mar, Colin Pene would find the end zone on a rushing touchdown to put CDM up 13-6. Ayala though would answer back on a fake punt rushing touchdown to tie the game up at 13 to head into the locker room.

3rd Quarter: CDM would get things started on a 29 yard field goal by Colin Pene and take it into the 4th Quarter up by 3. 

4th Quarter: Ayala would fight back to reclaim the lead on a passing touchdown to go up 20-16. Sea Kings knew what they had to do to get it really going as David Rasor would go on for a 32 yard rushing touchdown to put CDM back up by 3. Colin Pene would end up putting the game away for the Sea Kings on a 41 yard rushing touchdown to put them up by 10. Ayala would try to answer back but could only get 3.

The Sea Kings would go onto win this one and advance to the Quarterfinals 30-23 as they await the winner of Chaparral/Thousand Oaks tomorrow night.
